Notifications

What you can do

1. Choose an app on the phone and look at its notifications together.
2. Open the phone’s settings and choose which notifications your child should see.
3. Try a notification from the relevant app and check that it appears as agreed.
4. Sprout’s web test does not send automatic safety alerts. Also agree how the child will contact an adult.

Avoid

• Listen first, without blaming or shaming your child.
• Do not forward private messages, intimate images or explicit screenshots.
• No app can protect against everything. Do not promise that it can.
