What you can do
- Open Discord’s Family Center together. Look at the information it shows and tell your child how you will use it.
- Look through a server invitation or a message from someone unfamiliar. What does your child know about the sender, and who could they ask if unsure?
- Use Discord’s own help to find the settings. Also agree how your child can ask for help with something you cannot see in Family Center.
Avoid
- Listen first, without blaming or shaming your child.
- Do not forward private messages, intimate images or explicit screenshots.
- No app can protect against everything. Do not promise that it can.
For parents
Make clear that your child can get help even if they have broken an agreement.
