Do this now

  1. Is anyone in immediate danger? Call 112 in Denmark or your local emergency number right away.
  2. Tell an adult you trust what is happening. You can start with ‘Something is happening in a group and I need help.’

Signs of pressure

  • Someone asks you to prove you belong by doing something you do not want to do.
  • Someone threatens to share something about you if you say no, leave the group or tell an adult.

What you can do

  1. Ask an adult to help you stop contact and report the group or account on the platform. In Denmark, you can also ask SletDet for help.
  2. When it is safe, the adult can note the platform, usernames, dates and links you already have. Keep threatening text messages if you can do so without copying intimate images or videos.
  3. If there are threats or blackmail and it is not an emergency, call 114 in Denmark for police advice or to report what happened. Elsewhere, contact your local police.

Avoid

  • Do not pay, send anything else or go back into the group to look for evidence.
  • Do not look for, download or forward intimate images or abuse material. Ask the police how to handle anything you have already received.

For parents

  1. Start with ‘I’m glad you told me. I want to help.’ Give your child time to talk, and ask if anyone is in danger right now.
  2. Ask what your child likes about the group and what happens when they say no. Listen to both answers.
  3. Follow up after the first conversation. Ask who your child feels at ease with, and help them make plans with a friend or find another group they want to join.
